Canvas

Ally is now active across all Canvas courses to improve the accessibility of course content for students and faculty.

Students:

• Students will see an Alternative Formats icon next to uploaded files in Canvas.
• They can convert PDFs, Word documents, and PowerPoint files into accessible formats without a formal accommodation or special request.
• Available formats include Audio (MP3), translated versions, HTML/eReader-friendly formats, Microsoft Immersive Reader, BeeLine Reader, and Braille-Ready Formats (BRF).
• Ally only changes how students access existing course materials. It does not change assignment deadlines or course requirements.

Faculty/Staff:

• Faculty will see color-coded accessibility gauges next to uploaded files.
• These gauges are visible only to instructors and administrators.
• The Instructor Feedback panel provides information about accessibility issues and guidance on how to fix them.

Student Support:

• If a student have query regarding files or accessing materials in alternative formats, go to the Alternative Formats icon next to the document in your Canvas course.
