Grading

Adding Comments to Discussion Grades

When instructors grade within Canvas, they can add comments to each student post, and the rubric will be tied to the overall discussion activity. So, if Student A posts their initial post and two replies to other students, and the instructor makes their Overall Grade Comment on one of those replies, the instructor will not see the comment on the initial post or the other reply. In the attached items, you will see one post has the overall rubric grade and an overall comment, but the other does not. If the instructor tries to grade another post, it will overwrite the original comment made to the student.

If a faculty member wants to include an overall comment on a discussion, they need to comment and grade the initial post, not the replies.
