The student will have submitted their paper and used the Edit Details option in the Canvas uploader to change the name of the file. This allows a student to add special characters to the title, but this breaks the file path structure that computers rely on, which means that the file that syncs to Turnitin is broken, as is the file if anyone downloads the file from Canvas. Therefore, Have the student (or have the instructor to tell the student too) resubmit the paper, but this time, don’t use the Edit Details option to change the name of the file.
