Canvas – Student in Inactive Status: A student cannot access or see a course in their Canvas Instance.

  • Support can see them as “Inactive” in course Roster.
  • Inactive status is used in Canvas when a student has dropped the course during the first week or has been withdrawn for financial or academic reasons. This “Inactive” status can be seen in the course roster underneath the People Tab.
  • Solution: The student should contact their Student Advisor, whose information can be found in their student portal. The Student Advisor will be able to provide more information since they have student records and will escalate if necessary.
